The Opportunity

Each month, Yellow Line Digital offers a Digital Health Check Grant worth $10,000 to a purpose-driven organization. One of the recent winners of our grant was St. Michael Parish & Catholic School, a community of faithful believers who are dedicated to bringing the Gospel to Schererville, IN and the greater Northwest Indiana community.

The Goal

St. Michael Parish & Catholic School came to YLD with the desire not only to recruit more young families to the school, but also to attract them to the beauty of the Catholic community and encourage their participation in the parish at large.

Our research, therefore, focused on how to use social and digital platforms to reach families in the area, increase interest in the school and parish, and increase enrollments and the practice of faith. 

The Insights

Through our in-depth research, Yellow Line Digital uncovered plenty of insights to help St. Michael’s achieve their goal. Here are just a few of the highlights:

New Channels, New Audiences: As many parishes across the country post only on Facebook and see followers aged 55+ engaging, St. Michael’s needs to break out content on new channels in order to reach new audiences, including younger parents, Gen X, Y, and Z.

The Catholic Difference: Much of the social media content of Catholic institutions is “safe,” unhelpful, and repetitive. Yet the Catholic faith is anything but dull! St. Michael’s has an incredibly vibrant community — it needs to showcase these things and show the Catholic difference in real life!

Influencers: Seeing a face is crucial in helping audiences to connect emotionally with the content. Influencers have connected with audiences in ways that even the most beloved brands never could. The Church’s “influencers” are its pastors, deacons, teachers, lectors, and even students. These are faces that need to be put on screen.
